Ilze Smildzina

Latvia - born in 1973

"Painting allows me to tell a story without words. My artwork contains fragments of what I have seen and experienced in daily life, but these scenes have been placed in a different reality, emphasizing the story itself. "

"At times, the storyline shifts during the work process, and the event is transformed into something entirely different. The imaginary world through which I want to actualize a theme or image may be relevant to me or the society at the time. The free space in my paintings' stories allows viewers to create their scene."
